Optimizing the 7 Stages of the Structured Hiring Process

by | Oct 11, 2024 | Hiring/Recruiting

Hiring Process-1

Think of your hiring process as a house of cards. Shaky. Immaculate. Easy for it to crumble! So naturally it’s hard to navigate, but it’s a must that you should, or else your entire endeavor of expanding your workforce sort of falls apart. Basically a lose-lose.

So what do you do?

How do you maximize the efficiency of your hiring process?

You follow these stages!

#1: Identify the right hiring needs for your business

The trick to this is to look ahead. Look far ahead. Because your business hiring needs maybe for today might change tomorrow.

#2: Create the right job descriptions for your business

Hiring process-2

This follows an accurate look at your hiring needs for good reason. Why? You do want the most accurate, most effective candidates in your shortlist, don’t you?

#3: Advertise job postings on the right platforms

Of course, you can’t find those effective and competitive candidates just anywhere. You have to advertise your hiring needs in the right places (and for the right reasons).

#4: Screen candidates with methodical clarity

Chances are you’ll have major must-haves with your prospective candidates, so here’s what you do: screen for those right away with an accurate, thorough, and clear expectation of what you’re looking for.

#5: Focus on the right kind of job interview to manage

Wait, there’s more than one “type” of job interview? Yep. There are three, in fact.

#6: Make sure you’re crafting a job offer that demands success

Who knew, right? One would think simply sending any job offer’s a good thing. Be surprised: sometimes it’s not.

#7: And, lastly, ensure your onboarding goes smooth

One could imagine that a new employee might not even care that onboarding is a slog, because at the end of the day, the employee’s getting paid anyway. But onboarding is much more than that….

So we repeat: nail these stages down, and you’re set

Then you’re ready to do the work in finding not only good candidates to do the jobs you need your business to thrive on, but the right candidates who will last a lifetime and ensure you get minimal (if not zero) turnover.

Because at the end of the day…. Your business is only as good as the hires coming in to do the work that matters most. So better be sure: your hiring processes are just as good!
